Contribution to UNESCO's programmes With good geographical coverage, fairly balanced in terms of both membership and activities, the World Peace Council has in the past played an active role in the NGO Standing Committee and relevant secretariat structures. It must nevertheless be noted that its contribution has become more irregular. It did not reply to the Director-General’s consultations on the C/4 and C/5 documents in the sexennial period in question and its contribution to the sexennial report was submitted after the deadline. It should, in the framework of the culture of peace programme, make particular efforts to come back up to standard and work more closely with other NGOs with the same fields of competence. The Council does not satisfactorily fulfil the conditions for admission to formal relations.
